The work is conceived as an expanded field of upside down crystal glasses. Each glass is a device for trapping a common cockroach. The insects thus isolated may remind of a wicked childhood game... an antique way to protect ourselves from what disgusts us, and at the same time, give us a chance to watch comfortably our fears, with the illusion of control. Evolution has designed the insects to be a virtually inexhaustible and constantly evolving species, as the fears of men are. The act of enclosing the insects isolating them from each other, robs them of their greatest strength, which is precisely the reproduction.
Like the monads of Leibniz, the crystal glass - enclosed insects start to behave as small isolated centers of energy, with an indipendent "inner life", that can no longer be influenced from the Outside.
